Boys Baseball of Aurora initiated the Aurora Starz tournament team program in 2003.  Conceived as a supplement to the traditional "in house" program at both the Minor and Major League levels it expanded in 2014 to include additional age groups at the 8U, 13U and 14U levels. Participation in the Starz allows boys with the talent and desire to play more baseball during the Summer, that opportunity.

Selected each year in late summer through a tryout process, team members enjoy a rigorous Fall and Winter schedule to further develop their baseball skills through additional practices, training, and clinics.  Beginning in the Spring, the Starz teams travel to tournaments throughout Northern Illinois competing against the areas best talent.  During the Summer, Starz players pull double duty - playing on their in house teams during the week and then traveling with their Starz team for weekend tournaments, usually once a month.

Supported through donations, fundraisers, and sponsorships specific to the Starz program these teams host the annual City of Lights Tournament in June.  This has quickly become one of the showcase tournaments in the area with over 50 teams spread over all age groups playing on numerous fields over the course of three days!

At certain milestones in the Starz program, players, their parents, managers, and coaches travel to special tournaments for an additional unforgettable experience.  The 12 year olds have gone to Cooperstown, New York to participate in a week long tournament against travel teams from across the United States for several years and will continue to do so.  The addition of the 14U team has us developing an additional milestone tournament in which the team goes to the Cal Ripken Experience.  Our program has also expanded to include a travel capstone experience for the 10U team at the Wiscon Dells.

Tryouts for the 2018 Starz teams have been completed and teams are set.  There may be additional supplemental tryouts in the Spring that will be announced at a later time.
